This started because I wanted creativity back in my life.
You know that feeling when someone asks what you do for fun — and you pause just a little too long?
Not because you’ve forgotten how what it is you enjoy. But because somewhere between the school runs and the mental load and the endless loop of “to-do’s”, you cannot remember the last time you actually did it.
That’s not laziness or a personality flaw. Part of it is even normal. With kids, life changes and priorities shift. But, the part that we often let determine the narrative, is that we can’t reclaim those moments of joy unless we overhaul our lives. That part isn’t true and it shouldn’t be normal.
I know that feeling of overwhelm and realizing how far removed I had become from who I used to be. I wanted to claim part of my pre-kid life back. Not only for myself, but also for my son. Because she was fun. She was engaging and she is worth having around. And best of all, that part of her CAN fit into life after kids – without giving up more, but by showing up differently in life as it is. That’s exactly why The Daily Stitch exists.
Hi, I'm Vanessa.
I’m a mom who reached a point where I couldn’t answer the question “what do you enjoy?” without feeling a strange, quiet panic. I had spent so long managing everything for everyone else that I had quietly stopped doing the things I loved.
Crochet was the thing that brought me back.
It didn’t fix everything, but it allowed me to reclaim a piece of me that I had missed. That had grounded me and connected me to not only myself, but to others as well. The ten minutes with a hook and some yarn was the first time in a long time that something was entirely, completely mine. No one needed it from me. No one benefited from it but me. And that turned out to matter more than I expected.
I built The Daily Stitch because I wanted other moms to have that too — without having to figure it out alone (or decide the only way to have that part of life back is to sacrifice other essentials – like sleep…)
What The Daily Stitch is for.
The Daily Stitch is a crochet habit app built specifically for busy moms — the ones who’ve lost their creative outlet somewhere in the chaos of motherhood and need a starting point that doesn’t require a perfect season of life to begin.
It’s not a general habit tracker. It’s not a crochet tutorial platform. It’s something more specific than either of those things: a daily companion that makes showing up for yourself feel possible, even on your hardest days.
Every part of it is designed around one belief — that creativity isn’t a luxury you earn after everything else is done. It’s maintenance. It’s what keeps you whole. Those pockets of peace are attainable and you can access them now – even in the beautiful, messy chaos of motherhood.
In The Daily Stitch you will find stitch tutorials made for days when you need some inspiration, a shame-free habit tracker that celebrates your wins, and a beginner project library with simple, accessible patterns. All of it sized for real life. All of it yours.
“Ten minutes isn’t a compromise – it’s exactly enough.”
A few things I deeply believe.
You don’t have to earn rest.
Creative time isn’t a reward for finishing everything else on the list. Integrating creativity into life makes the list more enjoyable.
Small is not the same as not enough.
A 10-minute habit practiced consistently will change more than a 2-hour session practiced occasionally. The Daily Stitch is built for the real day, not the ideal one.
Guilt is not a compass.
The mom guilt you feel around hobbies is cultural conditioning, not truth. This is a space that actively, deliberately refuses to reinforce it.
Done beats perfect every time.
A slightly lumpy dishcloth you finished is worth infinitely more than a beautiful pattern you abandoned. Progress over perfection is always a win.
